BOWLING BOY (Newcastle, U.K.)

        They cannot say which kind of music they play. This is always hardest question for BOWLING BOY - a band from Newcastle, UK. But one thing is clear - they like to do all via DIY.

First they all met in 1991 and formed a band CLENCH, but BOWLING BOY was founded just in 1996:

MOG - dr            IAIN before CLENCH was in THE REPLICAS (did a Peel Session and supported The Wedding Present on tour), JOHN and MOG played in several noise guitar orientated bands, for example LIKE A VIRGIN. Soon after forming, BOWLING BOY made their first demo which was released as "Fenikss Oiler" cassette on Latvian underground TORNIS label to coincide with the bands summer 1997 Latvia/Lithuania/Belarus tour. After successful East-Europe tour the band returned home and continued to do music - rehearsing + playing shows together with Newcastle bands, and guest bands from other places, such as ...Red Monkey...God Is My Co Pilot...Spraydog...Lois... July 1998 is arranged for BOWLING BOY first single - the 7" 'Fantastic True Bowling Stories' will be out on TEN PIN PRODUCTIONS, and is a comic & vinyl combination.
